Politics[edit]

John Lamoreau won the 2002 Union County Commissioner election, earning 51.81 percent of the vote while his opponent, John J. Howard received 45.91 percent.[2] During his four years in office, Lamoreau spent much time on bring renewable energy to Union County. After he left office in 2006, he continued to support renewable and clean energy, lobbying the Oregon Legislature to pass renewable energy legislation.[3] With his encouragement, the Oregon House of Representatives passed the Oregon Renewable Energy Act in 2007.[4]

Waging Peace[edit]

In 1980, Lamoreau co-wrote the book Waging Peace: A Study in Biblical Pacifism with Professor Ralph Beebe.[5] Waging Peace convincingly states that for the first 300 years of Christianity non-violence was an accepted part of a Christian lifestyle. While the book is little advertised it has been reprinted every year since its original publication. He is also a published photographer.

Lamoreau is also well known as a Titanic collector and researcher. His collection of Titanic related artifacts is considered the largest in the northwest United States.
