Johnys P Stephen
Johnys P Stephen (born 2 November 1998) is one of the youngest panchayat presidents in India,[1] who is currently serving as the panchayat president of Uzhavoor, Kottayam, Kerala, India.
He was elected from Areekara, Kottayam as an independent candidate with the support of One India One Pension, a movement promoting equal access to pension to all who are above the age of sixty, in 2020. He was able to defeat the nominees of the Left Democratic Front (LDF), the United Democratic Front (UDF), and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) with a significant majority.[2][not in citation given]
Early life and education
Johnys P Stephen is the son of Stephen P.U, retired headmaster of Chirukara School, Pala, and Laiby Mathew, Teacher-Government NSS school, Monippally. He hails from Uzhavoor. He is a graduate in English with Communication Studies from Christ University, Bangalore with a Bachelor of English language and literature from St. Stephen's College, Uzhavoor.[3]
During his school days, he was an active participant in various extracurricular activities, namely essay writing, speech, drama, and mono act, and has won prizes in school and district-level competitions. He has also served in Thirubalasakyam, Deepika Balasangadana, CML, KCYL. He was elected as the coordinator of Malayala Samajam[4] and Scholar Forum in his college days, before entering into politics.
Apart from the administrative and managerial roles, his interest lies in movies and he has published and presented a paper related to Malayalam horror movies in Taylor & Francis and London Centre for Interdisciplinary Research respectively.
