Jon Kinsey
Jon Kinsey (born November 11, 1954) was the Mayor of Chattanooga, Tennessee from 1997 to 2001.[1] He is a Democrat. He is remembered primarily for his role in unsuccessfully trying to buy the Tennessee-American Water Company, which provides the majority of water to Chattanooga.
Biography[edit]
He was born on November 11, 1954. He came to Chattanooga at the age of 8. He graduated from the Baylor School in 1972, and attended Boston University. Working at the building/development business, he co-founded Leonard Kinsey Company in 1984, and was the Chattanooga Area Convention & Visitors Bureau's chairman.
In 2000 he joined the Committee for Safer Guns Coalition.[2]
In November 2010, Kinsey was appointed to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.[3] He held that position until 2016.[4]
