Jon Vlassopulos
Jon Vlassopulos is a music industry executive. He is CEO of music streaming service Napster.
Vlassopulos began his career as a DJ. He worked for Bertelsmann Music Group in Hong Kong, Tokyo and New York during the late '90s, and later held executive positions at AT&T Wireless and production company Endemol, where he ran the Digital and Branded Entertainment divisions.[1]
Career
He spent three years as Vice-President and Global Head of Music at Roblox, until joining Napster in 2022.[2] At Roblox, Vlassopulos developed a strategy that emphasized the metaverse and the emergence of virtual concerts as being central to fan engagement and music promotion in future.[3] During his tenure, Lil Nas X, Ava Max and Royal Blood all hosted events on the Roblox platform.[3]
Napster
In 2023, Vlassopulos announced that Napster would eventually include cryptocurrency features to allow users to purchase 'verch' or virtual merchandise, arguing that music is shifting toward a 'platform model where fans will buy tunes, merchandise, and tickets' within a Roblox-like environment.[4] After Napster was acquired by technology firm Infinite Reality in March 2025, Vlassopulos announced plans for 3D virtual concerts and also suggested the platform would feature social networking elements.[5]
