Production
After her award-winning debut movie Le passé devant nous, Jonah Was Here is the second feature film by director Nathalie Teirlinck.[1] She wrote the screenplay together with Angelo Tijssens, with whom she has worked before.
The movie is an international co-production, led by the Flemish production company De Wereldvrede in cooperation with Savage Film, Frakas Productions (Wallonia) and the Dutch Volya Films.[2][3] At the end of 2024, it was announced that the project received financial support from the Flemish investment fund Screen Flanders, and earlier the project already received financial support from the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF).[1][4]
Filming took place entirely in Flanders. In May 2025, filming was done in Ghent, among other places.[5]
Post-production was handled by the Carousel studio.[6] The original film music was composed by singer-songwriter An Pierlé, cinematography was done by Myrthe Mosterman and Stijn Deconinck did the editing.
