Jonathan Daniel Ross (born April 26, 2003) is an American high school basketball player from Houston, Texas, who attended Jack Yates High School. [1]He previously played for Jack Yates High School, in Houston Texas after originally attending Mickey Leland College Preparatory Academy for Young Men. [2]He is a recruit who has committed to play college basketball for the Grays Harbor Chokers.[3]

Early life[edit]

As a child " Ross" growing up had a lot of energy, and his parents enrolled him in many different activities to keep him busy.[4] In his childhood, he mainly played basketball in the summer league.[5] In elementary school in the United States, Jonathan was enrolled in the YMCA summer league for his age, as he got into basketball.[6] In middle school, he played his first actual school basketball season for Mickey Leland College Prep Academy.[7]

In 7th grade, while playing with The Knight Ross got his official chase down the block at the age of 13 (9/14/2017). He went on to play Amateur Athletic Union basketball for the Hoop Nation family and the Houston Defenders, bringing a lot of skills to both teams.[8] During his junior and senior years, teams began to pay attention to him as he captured the interest of college coaches. [9]Also, Ross was awarded "Defensive Player of the Year" for Hoop Nation Family.[10]

Jonathan Daniel Ross is a social media model who promotes huge clothing brands on Instagram.[11] Also, Ross is an influencer for the number-one motivating team and app (Team I Am).[12] Ross also makes sure he can motivate many people through his following to be the best they can be. Ross takes time to give back to his community and donates sports supplies to businesses and kids in need.[13] He also takes time to bring food to the homeless when he has free time.[14]

Highschool/College Career[edit]

Jonathan played for Jack Yates High School in Texas.[16] Jonathan has grown much since his junior year, when he shared his abilities to help Jack Yates win the 4A State Championship (2020-2021).[17]

As a freshman at Grays Harbor, he played 8 games, and Ross averaged 2.5 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.[18] On Feb. 1, 2023, he scored a career-high 9 points in lost to Highline College.[19] On Feb 8th, 2023, Ross got his career rebound high of 9 against Centralia College in loss 75-71.[20]

Recruiting[edit]

Ross is considered a talented athlete recruit in the world.[21] He received offers from many NCAA Division 2 programs, including Texas Wesleyan University and North Arkansas College before ending his high school career.[22] In June 2021, Ross was offered by college and universities (juco) basketball programs after showing interest in playing for a college on social media.[23] On April 13, 2021, Jonathan Daniel ross committed to play for Grays Harbor College for head coach ,Matthew Vargas, starting in 2021–2022.[24]
