Club career

Makaya began his career in France. After joining AS Lattes, he later played for FC Sète and represented both clubs at the youth national level. Makaya played for AS Béziers (France) in 2012 and Alcobendas Sport (Spain) in 2013 before being recruited by St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers (USA).[1]

In 2014, he made his college soccer debut with St. Francis Brooklyn under head coach Tom Giovatto. In his first year, Makaya helped lead St. Francis Brooklyn to a NEC Championship and to an NCAA Tournament appearance.[2][3] He was also named as a Second Team ALL-NEC player.[4] In his two seasons with the Terriers, Makaya appeared in 40 games, scoring 14 goals and recording 7 assists.[5]

In 2017, Makaya joined the Montreal Carabins soccer team.[6] In the same year with the team, he became a two-time RSEQ provincial champion (Indoor and outdoor) and won a silver medal at the Canadian University championship organized by U SPORTS.[7] With the Montreal Carabins, Makaya appeared in 25 games, helping the team score 8 goals and recording 8 assists.[8]
