Jordan Fein
Jordan Fein is a film director. He graduated from the New York University (NYU) Kanbar Institute of Film & Television.[1]
Career[edit]
Fein’s feature documentary The Blessing[2] premiered in 2018 and had its US broadcast premiere on PBS World Channel on November 24, 2020.[3] It is the story of a Navajo medicine man raising his daughter as a single father while digging coal at Black Mesa, a mountain that is historically sacred to the Navajo people. The film won a Grand Jury Prize at the Dallas International Film Festival,[4] a Big Sky Award at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival,[5] was selected Best of Fest at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival, Best Native Feature Award at the Bend Film Festival,[6] and Best Feature Documentary at the Arizona International Film Festival.[1]
Fein received a grant from the International Documentary Association Pare Lorentz Fund for The Blessing.[7] The film is executive produced by actor Raoul Max Trujillo. It was screened at the Smithsonian Native Cinema Showcase in 2019[8] and curated in the IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, from July 26, 2019 - October 31, 2019.[9]
Fein directed commercial campaigns for companies like Adobe, Range Rover, Squarespace, and Verizon.[1] His commercial for Volvo, entitled “Highway Robbery”, won a Silver and two Bronze Cannes Lions awards[10][11] as well as a Clio Award[1][12] in 2016.
Fein was also the recipient of the Points North Fellowship and was artist in residence at the Montello Foundation.[10][13] Fein is a member of the National Board of Review.
