Joseph Torres

Early life and education[edit]

He was born to Joseph and Jo Ann Torres in Long Island, New York.

Career[edit]

In the late 1980s, Torres began playing in underground poker clubs such as the Mayfair and Diamond club. In 1993, he played at the Taj Mahal.

Joe was one of the original featured professional poker players when the Latin American Poker Tour started and regularly plays in the high stakes poker room at the Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He has also written for a number of poker magazines.[3]

Torres has been a professional poker player since 1999. He specializes in Texas hold 'em (NLHE), Pot-limit Omaha (PLO) and PLO8 and has cashed in three tournaments in Las Vegas at the World Series of Poker (WSOP), one World Poker Tour (WPT) tournament at the Borgata in Atlantic City and two tournaments in Caracas, Venezuela and Margarita Island for the Latin Poker tour.

Torres has also served in the NYPD but retired after being injured while on duty.

Personal life[edit]

In 2000, Torres married Jennifer (Velez) Torres. He shares two twin girls with her and currently resides in Mooresville, North Carolina.
