Josh Hough (born 17 August 1992) is a British entrepreneur and the founder and managing director of CareLineLive, a UK-based provider of cloud software for home-care agencies.[1][2][3]
Early life
Hough was born with a rare muscle-weakening condition, minicore myopathy, and spent much of his early life using a wheelchair.[1][4] He has stated that both his personal care needs and his family’s experience with the care system shaped his motivation to create technology for social care providers.[1]
Career
CareLineLive
In 2014 Hough founded CareLineLive, a cloud-based platform for domiciliary care agencies that provides rostering, visit management, record-keeping and invoicing functions.[2] The idea stemmed from his family’s difficulties obtaining clear information about his grandfather’s care.[1]
Under Hough’s leadership the company has grown to support hundreds of care providers across several countries and to employ dozens of staff. Company statements and press reports have cited annual revenues in the low millions of pounds and operations in seven countries.[2][5]
CareLineLive has been included on the NHS assured supplier list for Digital Social Care Records and has integrated with the NHS’s GP Connect system to enable authorised access to GP records for direct care.[6][7]
Investment and growth
In 2025 CareLineLive announced a majority investment from technology investment firm Accel KKR. The transaction was reported in company and industry press as funding further product development and international expansion.[8][9]
Recognition
Hough and CareLineLive have been the subject of profiles and interviews in national and trade media discussing entrepreneurship, leadership and disability in business.[1][2] He has also been listed in regional awards recognising young business leaders.[10]
