He has also competed in 3 Arnold Classic competitions in 2009, 2010, and 2013.[7][8]
Professional wrestling career (2015–present)[edit]
Beginning in 2001, Josh Lewis began training for a professional wrestling career in Heartland Wrestling Association under the tutelage of renowned professional wrestler and trainer, Les Thatcher. Lewis decided to move towards bodybuilding. It was at a bodybuilding event in Indiana that Lewis befriended Rob Conway, who was then wrestling for the National Wrestling Alliance. Once Conway found out about Lewis's love for professional wrestling, he took him under his wing and trained him to become a wrestler. In 2015, Lewis made his debut with the National Wrestling Alliance.[9]
National Wrestling Alliance[edit]
Josh Lewis made his debut with the National Wrestling Alliance, debuting for NWA Mid-South, NWA Supreme and NWA Circle City Wrestling in October 2015. In early 2016, he teamed with Jeremy Moore to take on Rob Conway and Matt Riviera, collectively known as The Iron Empire, NWA World Tag Team Championship.[3] While in NWA Mid South, Lewis challended for other titles, including the NWA North American Heavyweight Championship and the NWA National Heavyweight Championship.
In NWA CCW, he had matches against Kevin Thorn and Abyss.[4]
In his NWA Supreme debut, Lewis faced NWA Supreme Heavyweight Champion The Texas Outlaw. Lewis won the match by countout.[9] On February 27, 2016, Lewis was one of the last two men standing in a battle royal where the winners would face each other later in the show for the new NWA United States Championship. He went on to defeat Eric Draven to win the title.[10] He would hold this championship until losing it to Van Martigan at Supershine Showdown May 2016.[11] Lewis, alongside Draven, defeated The Cross Brothers to win the NWA Mid-America Tag Team Championship, bringing the titles to NWA Supreme for the first time at Spring Stampede 2016. He would regain the NWA United States Championship on May 28, 2016 when he defeated Van Martigan by technical submission. Lewis and Draven lost the Tag Team Championships on June 11 to The King's Court. On September 16, Lewis defeated Rob Conway for the NWA Supreme Championship at Surviving the Steel.[12] This was his first reign as Supreme Heavyweight Champion. On September 24, he defeated Johnny Justice in a Winner Takes All match for his titles and Justice's NWA Mid-America Championship. On October 7 at NWA Supreme 3 Generations of Excellence, Lewis lost the NWA Supreme Heavyweight Championship to Rob Conway. On November 5, he lost the Mid-America Heavyweight Championship to Nicolas Noble. On January 6, 2017 Josh Lewis was awarded the NWA Tri State Television Championship in when Van VanHorn refused to defend the title. On February 18, Lewis lost the title in a triple threat match when Colton Cage pinned Timmy Danger. One week later, Lewis regained the title by defeating Colton Cage. Lewis would hold the NWA Tri State Television championship for 120 days, eventually losing the championship to his rival Rob Conway. On May 12, Lewis's second reign as NWA United States Heavyweight Champion came to an end after 350 days when he was defeated by Rob Conway at NWA Supreme Rebelution 2017. 15 days later, he regained the title.[13][10] Lewis had a thirteen day reign as NWA Mid-America Tag Team Champion with Bobby Fulton when they defeated the East and West Express on June 10, only to lose it back. On July 14, 2017 Lewis teamed with Rob Conway to win the Mid-America Tag Team Championship from Custom Made (Eric Draven and Roger Malcolm)[14] On August 18, 2017 Rob Conway and Josh Lewis lost the titles back to Custom Made. On September 15, 2017 Josh Lewis put the NWA United States heavyweight Championship on the line, against Eric Draven's NWA Supreme heavyweight Championship in a title vs title match. Lewis won the match and the NWA Supreme heavyweight Championship. On the following night, due to outside interference, Draven regained the NWA Supreme Heavyweight Championship from Josh Lewis.[11]
