The Journal of Glacial Archaeology has been published by Equinox Publishing since 2014. It is the only archaeological journal devoted exclusively to glacial archaeology, which includes regions with permafrost soils. The temporal scope ranges from the Paleolithic to the recent past, and the spatial scope includes all areas of the world where glaciers or permafrost soils exist. In doing so, the journal focuses on new discoveries, which are becoming increasingly frequent in a context of Climate Changes and the resulting uncovering of artifacts and human as well as animal remains. In addition to articles, reviews are published. Initially only one issue per year was published, but since 2016 two issues per year have been published.

Editors are James Dixon of the University of New Mexico, Albert Hafner of the University of Bern, and William Taylor, University of Colorado Boulder; Managing Editor is Martin Hinz, University of Bern.
