Joy Reid is a New Zealand journalist and broadcaster. She is currently the Europe correspondent for TVNZ, based in London..[1].
Career[edit]
After completing a Bachelor of Broadcasting majoring in journalism at Ara (formerly CPIT) Reid began her career in radio, interning at Newstalk ZB in Hamilton in 2003 before moving to Radio New Zealand in Auckland.[2]. In 2009 Reid was a finalist for Individual Radio Journalist of the Year at the New Zealand Radio Awards[3].
In 2009 Reid moved from radio to television joining TVNZ and relocated to Christchurch[4]. Reid became a key part of the coverage of the Christchurch earthquakes of 2010 and 2011[5]
Reid was announced as the new Europe correspondent for TVNZ in 2017, replacing Rebecca Wright[6][7]. She relocated to London with her family in September[8]
Charitable Work[edit]
In 2016 Reid joined friend Christina Buckland to establish a charity named One Mother to Another that delivers care packages to mothers of children in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Children's Acute Assessment Unit at Christchurch Hospital[9]
