Jungle Ventures is a Singapore-based venture capital firm investing in early to growth-stage tech startups across Southeast Asia and India. Founded by Amit Anand and Anurag Srivastava in 2012, the company has raised over $1Bn in capital commitments.[1]
Multiple investments have become "unicorns" valued above $1 billion, where Jungle has been a seed to unicorn investor, including Kredivo, Livpsace, and Moglix.
History[edit]
In 2012, Jungle Ventures raised its first fund of $10 million.[2] The firm launched its ‘super angel’ fund for growth-stage business in the Asian region.[3]
In 2015, the company raised $100 million in Fund II. The focus remained the same for the venture capital firm, with its second fund devoted to building the next “category leaders” from India, Southeast Asia.[4]
In 2019, Jungle Ventures exceeded its initial target range of $150 million to $200 million and raised $240 million for the third fund for investments in innovative technology and digital-driven startups across Southeast Asia and India.[5] Investors range included DEG, Germany's development finance institution, IFC, a member of the World Bank Group and Bualuang Ventures, a corporate venture capital fund of Bangkok Bank.[6]
In May 2022, the company announced a $600Mn close of their Fund IV with $450Mn in the main fund and $150Mn in additional managed commitments. Investors include Temasek, IFC, FMO, DEG, Mizuho Bank, Ltd. and StepStone Group. The fund intends to help the next generation of entrepreneurs from India and SouthEast Asia build category-leading tech businesses.[7][8][9][10] Jungle Ventures has raised $1Bn (total assets under management).[11]
Investments[edit]
The Jungle Ventures makes around 15-18 investments per fund (and only 6-7 new investments a year), meaning more capital, time, and resources per company.[12] Average first investment in each company can range from $500k to $20M.[13]
