Juro "Mez" Davis is an American audio engineer and hip hop artist from Manhattan, New York City. Mez is most well known for his work with the artist J. Cole and Dreamville Records.
Career[edit]
Mez started out in music as a rapper in the early 2000s, once the youngest member of legendary NYC rap crew M.I.C. (alongside MF Doom, MF Grimm), and known as MF Mez, Mez mixed, was featured on and executive produced the first triple-disc album in hip hop history: MF Grimm’s “American Hunger”.
Mez and J. Cole first met in 2006 through Mez's then business partner, Mike Rooney, making the rapper’s first project “The Come Up” and have worked closely together ever since.[1] In 2016, Mez featured in the five-part HBO mini series: J. Cole: Road to Homecoming, as well as HBO's feature length documentary film: Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming.
Mez is Dreamvilles in house engineer and works closely with all their artists most notably Ari Lennox, JID and EarthGang.
In 2011, Mez founded the animated band StartYourOwnRebellion in collaboration with New York City producers Soundwavve.
Over the course of his career, Mez has earned numerous Grammy nominations, multiple Number 1 albums as well as a plethora of Top 40 hits.
