From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Justin Wang is a heart transplant recipient and organ donation advocate. He received a new heart on April 27, 2018 at the age of 15. The operation was performed at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital, Stanford, California.[1]

Pre-Transplant[edit]

At two years old, Wang was diagnosed with Löffler's syndrome. [2] Wang subsequently had a Glenn Procedure to restore blood flow from his right ventricle. Wang's parents were told additional surgery and a potential heart transplant may be needed when Wang grows into a teenager.[1]

In 2017, Wang experienced chronic heart failure, categorized by heart arrhythmia, extreme fatigue and loss of appetite. On April 10, 2018, Wang was listed as a Status 2 patient on the heart transplant list. [1]

Post-Transplant[edit]

Wang received a heart and underwent a heart transplant procedure on April 27, 2018. After being discharged from the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital as inpatient, he stayed at the Ronald McDonald House for three months before finally returning home.[3]

My Heart Transplant Journal[edit]

Wang published and authored an online journal the details his heart transplant experience. Wang stated, "I'm sharing my journal entries because I'm hoping this will inspire people to become organ donors, and give hope to those staying in the hospital."[4]

Justin's Hearty Recipes[edit]

Through the Make-A-Wish foundation, Wang created a heart-healthy cookbook named Justin's Hearty Recipes.[5] [2] Previously, Wang endured a lack of appetite and inserted nutrients through a gastric feeding tube. Justin's Hearty Recipes provided example recipes for Wang and other patients to use. [6] [7]
