K. R. Harish (born 9 January 1967) is an Indian film producer and former senior media executive. He is known for producing films such as Quick Gun Murugun (2009), What the Fish (2013), Manjha (2017), House Arrest (2019), and Plan A Plan B (2022).[1][better source needed] Before entering the film industry, Harish held leadership positions in major media and entertainment companies, including Star TV, WorldSpace, and Phat Phish.
Early Life
Harish was born on 9 January 1967 in India. He began his career in finance and rose through leadership roles in the media and telecommunications sectors before transitioning to film production.
Corporate Career
Harish served as the Deputy Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Star TV, during the period when the network was sold to Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation.[2] He was later appointed Group CFO at Data Access, a telecom venture backed by Hutchison Whampoa and Star Group.[2]
In the mid-2000s, Harish joined WorldSpace Satellite Radio as Chief Executive Officer (India), overseeing operations during a period of strategic transformation.[3][4]
After leaving WorldSpace, Harish became the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Phat Phish, an entertainment company known for producing independent music and films such as Quick Gun Murugun (2009).[2]
Film Career
Harish transitioned to the film industry in the early 2010s. His first independent production, the Hindi comedy-drama What the Fish (2013), marked his entry into cinema.[1][better source needed] He subsequently worked on multiple projects across Hindi and regional cinema, including Netflix originals and critically discussed titles.
