Kimberley Fransa Salim, better known by her stage name KIM! or Kimberley Sings (born June 3, 2006) is a Chinese-Indonesian Singer-songwriter, actress, dancer and host.[1][2] She was the second runner-up for the second season of The Voice Kids Indonesia talent search event on GTV, who during his competition joined the Bebi Romeo team.[3]
Career
Her name became popular when she won the second runner-up title in the second season of The Voice Kids Indonesia singing competition on GTV.[3] Apart from singing talent, Kimberley also excels in academics. Not only good at studying mathematics, Kim even managed to score 100 marks in mathematics in the National Examination (Ujian Nasional).
Kimberley herself has loved singing since she was 4 years old, and started participating in various competitions at various malls since she was 8 years old. Her mother then enrolled her in singing classes and still takes singing lessons today.
Before she was successful through The Voice Kids Indonesia, Kimberley had also tried to participate in many other talent search events, but none of them had been successful.[4]
She also achieved various achievements. Prior to joining The Voice Kids Indonesia, she won several awards, such as 1st place in Maxx Box Voice Star 2016, 1st place in La La Oke singing competition, 1st place in Solo Vocal Development Jaya competition, 1st place in Cantata Singing Competition, 1st place in Yie Thou Singing Competition, 1st place in the GENPRES Vocal Competition, and also in others.
Not only in singing, Kimberley also achieved achievements in academics by winning various competitions such as Bronze medal at SASMO (Singapore & Asian Schools Math Olympiad) 2015 at Global Ranking 1255 [5][6], Bronze medal at AMO (American Mathematics Olympiad)[7][8], Bronze medal at SEAMO (Southeast Asian Mathematical Olympiad), 1st place in the 2015 EF Spelling Bee[9], 3rd place in the 2016 EF Spelling Bee[10], and 1st place in the 2017 EF Spelling Bee.
She is now working with NSG Music Recordings and signed to the international label Empire Distribution.
In 2019, she released her debut single titled "Shine" which features a rap verse from Willy Winarko. This song is the work of her producer Nutyas Surya Gumilang. Since then, she had been creating her debut solo album, "Cute Little Savage, Vol. 1", which includes the song and which was released in 2021.
In 2020, Kimberley officially released her latest work entitled "Never Break Me Down. This song is part of the album "Voices for Change, Vol.1" , a project from Empire Distribution. Kimberley is the only Indonesian singer who was chosen to be a part of this big music compilation. The project "Voices for Change" itself is a call from Empire Distribution and all of its artists to open their voices which is expected to generate solidarity in dealing with the issue of injustice happening around them. The contents of each song raise social issues such as racial intolerance, mental health, violence, and injustice, which are voiced through the experiences of each singer.
She also has talent in acting, modeling and hosting. Evidently, she was chosen to be a social host in the third season of The Voice Kids Indonesia program content which aired on the YouTube channel The Voice Kids Indonesia in 2018. She has also starred in an FTV that aired on SCTV in 2017 entitled "Karate untuk Emak" (Karate for Mother).[11]
