The first line of shoes were produced in 2008.[5][6][7]

The Atom[8][9] shoe model was released in 2019 and is the most popular model.[10][3][11] Some other models include Quantum,[3] Flux, Roam, Kala, Thread, Chicane,[12] Glide, and Breeze.[13]

Company[edit]

Kuru Footwear was established in 2008 by founder Bret Rasmussen.[21] Rasmussen won a 2006 competition at the University of Utah’s Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute using the company name Core Footwear. He used the prize money from the competition to develop orthotic technology and prototype shoes. He eventually named the technology “Kurusole” and renamed the company Kuru Footwear before its launch.[5] The company was named after the Japanese slang word for “hip, fashionable, stylish,”[6] along with Kuru, the former municipality of Finland.[6][22]

The company is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.[5][23][20]
