Lee Ka-eun (Hangul: 이가은; born August 20, 1994),[2] known professionally as Lee Ga Eun, is a South Korean singer and actress. She is best known as a former member of the girl group After School, and former competitor of the South Korean reality competition series Produce 48. Kaeun began her acting career in 2020 in the South Korean web movie 'Motelier'.
Career[edit]
2012-2019: Debut with After School and solo activities[edit]
Kaeun made her first appearance with After School on April 27, 2012, during the group's tour in Japan where she joined them on stage for the Japanese version of Bang! and "Let's Do It". Kaeun officially debuted as a member in the group's fifth single album Flashback.
On June 5, 2015 Kaeun made her debut as a DJ.[3]
In 2018, Kaeun joined Mnet's competition series Produce 48, following After School's five-year hiatus. Kaeun was a victim of Mnet's vote manipulation scandal where she was wrongfully eliminated.[4][5]
On July 4, 2019, Pledis Entertainment announced that Kaeun's exclusive contract with the company will expire on July 6. It was commented that the company will continue providing support for Kaeun to continue her promotions until a new agency has been decided. On July 5, Kaeun released the song "Remember You" (기억할게) to convey gratitude to her fans.[6] On July 16, Kaeun signed a contract with High Entertainment.[7]
2020-Present: Acting career[edit]
In 2020, Kaeun prepared for her acting debut in the South Korean web movie 'Motelier'.[8] Lee was also cast in the web series Another Peaceful Day of Second-Hand Items as Lee Ri-ah.[9]
