Kai Exos is a mixed-race R&B singer and songwriter who recently launched his first LP called “Telegraph”.[1]
History
Kai Exos was born in Canada and raised in the United States, where he started his piano training at the age of four in a gospel choir at a Southern Baptist church.[2]
In 2014, he released his first LP, “Telegraph”, an LP that combines heavy blues and jazz influences.[3] Some of the LP's songs were presented in a private show in Hollywood in 2014, where critics described Exos’ style as an interesting blend of everything from Motown-era soul to 1970s lo-fi rock. A subsequent world promotional tour included cities such as Tokyo and London.[4]
The LP features the single “Vigilante”, which was originally produced by the team recognized for their work on Ziggy Marley’s “Dragonfly.”[5]
The single “Telegraph” debuted at #19 on the US Triple A Most Added[6] and the debut single “Vigilante” was chosen as song of the day by Buzznet.[7] The LP has since gained significant retail airplay, with two tracks placed on Starbucks’ R&B and Hip Hop playlist.[8]
A few months after “Telegraph” was released, Kai Exos collaborated with Proper Villains to create a remix of the single “Vigilante”.[9]
In 2015, Kai was the opening act at Sundance Film Festival’s Belvedere House.[10]
