James Kaiwhare "Don't Blink" Kara France is a New Zealand mixed martial artist best known for his stint on the UFC reality show The Ultimate Fighter: Tournament of Champions.[1] Kai is currently scheduled to fight for Rizin FF on their December 29, 2016 Rizin World Grand-Prix 2016: 2nd Round fight card.
Legend Fighting Championship[edit]
Kai started out his career in the Asia Pacific MMA organization Legend Fighting Championship.[2] He amassed a record of 1 win to 2 losses fighting at bantamweight.
Pacific X-treme Championship[edit]
Prior to competing in The Ultimate Fighter: Tournament of Champions, Kai fought for the premier Asia Pacific MMA organization PXC. He went undefeated in PXC with a 2-0 record competing at flyweight, highlighted by a 3rd round TKO of Crisanto Pitpitunge at PXC 52.[3]
The Ultimate Fighter: Tournament of Champions[edit]
Kai was the #9 seed in the tournament and was matched up against the #8 seed, Alaska Fighting Champion Terrance Mitchell in the opening round. He was the 4th pick (eighth overall) for Team Cejudo coached by former UFC Flyweight title contender and Olympic Wrestling Champion Henry Cejudo.
Episode 1: The Tournament Begins (August 31, 2016): In the opening round, Kai defeated Terrance Mitchell (Alaska Fighting Champion) by KO 34 seconds into the first round.[4]
Episode 8: Round Two (November 2, 2016): Kai lost to Alexandre Pantoja (Resurrection Fighting Alliance Champion) in the quarterfinals by unanimous decision.
Rizin Fighting Federation[edit]
On December 13, 2016 it was announced via Rizin FF Press Conference[5] and confirmed by Rizin FF Official twitter[6] account that Kai would fight Deep Flyweight Champion Tatsumitsu Wada on the December 29 Rizin World Grand-Prix 2016: 2nd Round fight card at Saitama Super Arena in Tokyo, Japan.
