Kaiwei Zhi had his concerto debut at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Kyiv playing Liszt’s La Campanella. He then performed Liszt’s first piano concerto with the National Radio and Television Orchestra of Ukraine.

From 2008 to 2012 Kaiwei performed recitals in China, introducing Chinese audiences to Slavic music. After 2012 Kaiwei quit performing, spent a couple months in Paris meeting a new group of musicians, and rediscovered his faith and desire for music.

In 2014, Kaiwei returned to piano and performed the piano concerto “Yellow River” with ChongQing Philharmonic under the baton of ShangHai Philharmonic’s conductor Xieyang Chen in the Grand Theater of ChongQing.

In 2019, Kaiwei was the opening performer at a contemporary music recital in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, also the closing performer at a contemporary music recital in Markin Hall New York.

In 2020, Kaiwei had his first piano solo recital in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. During the Covid, Kaiwei decided to explore another direction of the musical world: French music. After performing Debussy’s Fantasie for piano and orchestra with University City Symphony in Missouri, USA. Kaiwei went back to Kyiv during the Ukraine Russia war, and performed Ravel’s first piano concerto in G with the Honored Academic Symphony Orchestra of Ukrainian Radio, together with maestro Volodymyr Sheiko.[1][2]
