Kanupriya is a student leader and former President of Panjab University Campus Students Council.In 2018, She bacame the first woman president of Punjab University.[2][3] She is also a member of Students For Society, a left wing students organisation.[4]

Early life and education[edit]

Kanupriya was born in Patti, Punjab[5] to Pawan Kumar and Chandar Sudha Rani. Her mother is a nurse.

Kanupriya started her student activism and organisational activities with Students For Society, a independent left wing students organisation, which she joined in 2015 after joining the Punjab University in 2014.

In 2018, she contested Panjab University Campus Students Council election representing SFS and went on to become first female president of it.

Soon afterwards being elected as President she demanded freedom for girls keeping girls' hostels open for 24 hours[6][7][8]. She has also received death threats from the members of the ABVP.[9]
