Kanya Graeme Ntintishe (born 5 January 1998), also known as simply Kanya Graeme, is a South African hip hop recording artist from the small town of Mdantsane. His first project (EP), Roughwork, was released on June 21, 2016.
Early life and career[edit]
Kanya Graeme Ntintishe was born on January 5, 1998, at Cecilia Makiwane Hospital, a hospital located in his hometown, Mdantsane, situated in the Eastern Cape. He was born to parents Fikiswa Vijaya Rula (mother) and Graham Mpumelelo Ntintishe (father). His father died when Kanya was 1, due to CRA (Cardiorespiratory Arrest). He is the youngest of his siblings from both sides. After Kanya's father's death, things were tough for Kanya's mother, as she had to raise Kanya all by herself. At age 4, he was diagnosed with autism, and was taken to various psychologists throughout his childhood.
Kanya started rapping at the age of 17, then started taking it seriously at 18. He proved so by releasing his debut EP entitled Roughwork, on June 21, 2016. The EP received 650 downloads on Datafilehost and was ranked #2 on the DFH Weekly Top 10 for 5 consecutive weeks.
Artistry[edit]
Kanya specialises in hip hop and mostly rock music, with trap and R&B as supportive genres. He was inspired by New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne in the rock and roll section, as well as the rapping part.
