"Karate!" is the third episode of the first season of the American comedy television series Freelancers. The episode premiered on YouTube, on April 11, 2019.[1] The episode was written by series co-star Matt Meese and was directed by Jeremy Warner.
In the episode, Arizona (Whitney Call), becomes envious when Owen (Stephen Meek), Micah (Stacey Harkey), and Ryan (Matt Meese) form a new karate group without her.
Plot[edit]
When telling the group he has found the coolest client, Owen (Stephen Meek) begins to argue with Arizona (Whitney Call), when she says Danny Devito is the coolest client they could have. The argument escalates and Arizona leaves the room, only for Ryan (Matt Meese) to reveal the "coolest client" they found was a taco truck owner with one arm. Arizona returns, angry that Owen believes that person is cooler than Danny Devito, and slaps Owen.
Later that day, Owen, Ryan, and Micah (Stacey Harkey), tell Arizona they went to a dojo and formed a new karate group with themselves, calling themselves the "The Karate Cobras." Arizona becomes envious she wasn't invited, saying she has "serious FOMO." Devin (Mallory Everton), reveals she bought a new scooter and later becomes paranoid when someone continues to knock it over while she's not looking. Arizona tells her it's probably a raccoon.
At night, the boys decide to go out for a walk in search of criminals to use their ninja skills. Arizona sarcastically suggests they wear ninja masks, and they do. Meanwhile, Devin stays outside watching her scooter to see what's knocking it over. After she looks away and the scooter is knocked down, Devin notices the boys doing ninja moves across the street and believes they are responsible for knocking over her scooter. She follows them to an alleyway and beats them up.
When they regroup, Arizona reveals to the group she hired Mr. Gandolfini to knock over the scooter, knowing Devin would beat up the boys if she saw them wearing ninja masks. Though disappointed, Owen and the rest of the group forgive her. Finally, the group takes Owen, who was badly injured by Devin, to the ER.
