"Power Outage" is the seventh episode of the first season of the American comedy television series Freelancers. The episode premiered on YouTube, on May 16, 2019.[1] The episode was written by series co-star Matt Meese and was directed by Jeremy Warner.

In the episode, the group begins to worry when a rainstorm causes a power outage, while a big project was saving on their computer.

Plot[edit]

The group finds out Micah (Stacey Harkey) didn't mail a deposit he was told to mail and put him in a shame corner.

Later, the group questions what was inside the food made by their new client, Beef & Stuff, and wonder if it was possible they ate human meat. Trying to change the subject, Owen (Stephen Meek) reveals to the group he's been texting a girl on Tinder, while at the same time catfishing Mr. Gandolfini so he doesn't catfish him back. Meanwhile, Devin (Mallory Everton) attempts to save the commercial they made for Beef & Stuff, but while saving, a power outage is caused by the thunderstorm outside. The group agrees to save the project again, once the power comes back on.

Five days later, the day before the commercial deadline, the group questions how the power still hasn't come back on. Owen goes outside to search for the girl he found on Tinder, and Ryan (Matt Meese), attempts to use static electricity to get the power back. Owen and Ryan both fail their objectives.

The group decides to use a stationary bike to get the power back, and Owen uses Devin's (Mallory Everton) carrier pigeon, to search for the Tinder girl. The pigeon sends the message to the wrong person, disappointing Owen. While using the stationary bike, Arizona (Whitney Call) farts and stinks up the room, forcing the group to spend the night outside in a tent. The group puts Arizona in a shame corner.

Micah notices the power in their house is back on, and Owen reveals he connected an extension cord to Mr. Gandolfini's generator, to steal a portion of his electricity. Devin turns the computer back on and tells the group the project was saved. Owen hears a knock on the door, opens it, and finds five ladies with notes from the pigeon carrier. He invites them in, and offers them macaroons, even though he doesn't have any.

Arizona watches the Beef & Stuff commercial, which states the food contains many health code violations, and Arizona questions how the place didn't raise any red flags for her.

Production[edit]

"Power Outage" was the second episode written by Matt Meese. Matt had previously written the episode "Karate!" earlier in the season. The episode was also the sixth and final episode directed by Jeremy Warner.

Reception[edit]

As of June 15, 2020, the episode has been viewed an estimated 570,000 times on YouTube.[2]
