Kashief Jackson, also known as Karim Hype, is a Jamaican dancehall deejay, selector, artist, and music producer.
Background
Karim Hype was born on 12 January 1984, in Kingston, Jamaica. He attended Norman Manley High School and then moved to Miami, Florida, in 2006. He continued his high school education and graduated from American High School.
Karim Hype fell in love with music at the age of 13; he used to sit at home and record live radio programs. When he was 16 years old, Karim knew music was his career path, and at that time he started to develop his craft. He was influenced by sound selectors and systems of the likes of Tony Matterhorn, Bass Odyssey, Renaissance, and Fire Links.[1]
History
In 2006 Karim Hype met Supa Twitch, who then asked him to join him, where he then created the legendary sound: Supa Sound. From there, Karim Hype started to build his fan base and was the core of the sound. In August 2016, Karim Hype wanted to pursue his career and branch out on his own as a solo Deejay, Selector, and departed from Supa Sound.
Via his statement on his departure, on 5 August 2016, Karim Hype stated: "I was blessed to be mentored by a Legend and know that he will carry on in sustaining his legacy; however, it is time for me to start a legacy and build my brand as Karim Hype Landmark Sound".
Throughout Karim Hype's career, his most outstanding experiences include traveling the world and playing in front of thousands of people and becoming close friends with legendary Dancehall Artists such as: Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, I-Octane, Assassin, Agent Sasco, Chino and Stephen McGregor, Demarco, and many more.
Hype Records LLC
In 2010 he founded Hype Records LLC and produced the No Blu Riddim, which features Wayne Wonder, Bugle, Chris Martin, and Konshens.[2] In addition, he collaborated with Ricky Blaze to create the Sprite Riddim, which Karim debuted as an artiste with his first solo hit "Badmind Energy".[3] The Riddim also featured Vybz Kartel's song "Touch a Button”.
