Karl Hermann Schaefer (22 May 1892 – 15 September 1947) was a German type designer. After training as a graphic artist at the Kunstgewerbeschule, Dortmund and attending painting courses with the painter August Ibing, Schaefer worked as a type designer primarily for the Schriftguss Type Foundry. With his acquisition of the Bald & Krüger printing company in Hagen, in the 1930’s he worked as the head of the print shop.[1]
