Kashti aka Ferry is a 1954 Hindi romantic musical film. The film was produced and directed by Hemen Gupta under the banner of Film trust of India. Starring Dev Anand, along with Geeta Bali, Master babu and Baby Bula daughter of director hemen gupta who was later known as Archana. The film was written by Dhruv Chattergee. The film's music director was Hemant Kumar and the lyrics were written by Rajendra Krishan.[1]
Plot[edit]
Ferry represents a service boat piling between the two shores of river. It is the story of a motherless child Raju (Master Babu) who have been bluff by his father vikas (Dev Anand) that his mother is alive and will be come through ferry. Vikas was a Zamindar of the town and also a Government Servant. Armoured with bluff and fortified with hope Raju keep on running after each of ferry coming to shore searching his mother with lone companion Lassie and playmate Mino.
On one fateful night mother arrives. Little Raju believe it but others belie it, still they dare not to tell raju. A woman name Juhu (Geeta Bali) washed ashore is towed in by raju and acclaimed as long lost mother. But who is she? A mysterious women of unknown origin in a house of high repute and traditions right under the nose of Vikas and his aunt. World cannot allow it. Vikas is in a fix. He feels in his heart that he too have get Raju's mother in that mysterious but innocent women - but society is there. Vikas and Juhu are like two shores of a vast sea which can never meet.
But they do, through the medium of ferry that is Raju. How?
