Kate Clapp (rus. Ка́тя Клэп) (born 19 May 1993[1]), whose real name is Ekaterina Romanovna Trofimova is a Russian video blogger[2][3] and singer. She publishes videos in genres like sketches, talk videos and musical parodies. Her video projects are in the top 10 most profitable in Russia.[4]

As of March 2022. her main channel, TheKateClapp[5] has 7.12 million subscribers and 1.55 million subscribers on her second channel, FroggyDisaster.[6]

Katya was born on 19 May 1993 in Moscow where she grew up and still lives. She graduated from secondary school and later entered the Institute of Contemporary Art (ISI) as a director, but in the first year, she took the documents.

Creative activity[edit]

2008–2019[edit]

she began her activities in 2008 under the pseudonym Kate Clapp on her first YouTube channel FroggyDisaster, Her first videos were sketches and parodies. In three years, the channel gained about 250 thousansd subscribers and more than 33 million views.

She participated in an advertising campaign on television for the brand 'Horsepower'.[7][8] In March[9] and November[10] 2014, as well as in March 2015,[11] she was on the cover of the ELLE Girl magazine. She also participated in the recording of the Russian version of the training portal Hour of Code.[12] In the fall of 2015, sje starred in several episodes of the Great Confrontation project, an epic story about video bloggers based on Star Wars. Colleagues on the set were Stas Davydov, Ivangay, Ruslan Usachev, among others. The project was timed to coincide with the release of the film Star Wars: The Force Awakens.[13]

In May 2016, she took second place (after Natalia Poklonskaya) in the ranking of the most beautiful women in the country according to the Russian Reporter.[14] Also in May 2016, together with Stas Davydov, were invited by Ivan Urgant to the debut of his own video blog, where the TV presenter invited the guests to evaluate their undertaking from the position of those who had already achieved popularity in the genre.[15] In June 2016, she was invited as a guest to the Muz-TV awards ceremony.[16] In the spring of 2016, together with Ivangay, she represented the Russian segment of YouTube at the creator summit in New York where the most popular video bloggers from all over the world were gathered.[17] In the summer of 2016, she led her own personal column on the Disney Channel as part of the Rules of Style program.[18] Interviews with her participation were shown on such TV channels such as: Channel One, Russia-1, Moscow 24, Muz-TV, among others.

She also starred in the TV series 'Youth' on STS, where she played herself.[19]

In April 2017, she took part in the Main Runet industry event, the Russian Internet Forum.

In the summer of 2017, she was one of the members of the Hype Camp dedicated to video blogging.[20]

In February 2018, together with 12 of the most popular bloggers, she went to the MAC factory to create her own shade of lipstick.

In December 2018, She starred in YouTube Rewind 2018.[21]

From 7 December 2018, to 31 May 2019, she was a jury member of the K-pop MPCamp competition, which is held to promote South Korean culture in Russia and promote the development of dance, music, directing and video skills.[22] Through her Instagram, Katya promotes South Korean culture among her followers.

On 29 March 2019, she released a music video for the song 'Dolls'.[23][24]

From 2020[edit]

As of September 2020, she publishes video only on her main channel TheKayeClapp. She is one of the most popular female video bloggers in the Russian segment of YouTube.[25]

Personal life[edit]

Since 2016, she has been in a relationship with Russian blogger Evgeny Bazhenov (better known as BadComedian).[26] In January 2021, they had gotten engaged. She announced it on her channel shortly after.[27]
