Katelyn Gretchen Cowthorne (born February 3, 1993), better known by her stage name Katey Cattlehand Pluck, is an American actress, musician, designer and cheerleader. She first appeared in 1998 when she started dancing, singing and cheerleading with other teammates before calling themselves the Cattlehands, which are similar to the Dallas Cowboys.[1]

The Cattlehands and 14 other teams were appeared as the Heroes' opponents on Imagine: Cheerleader[2].

Cattlehand Pluck debuted as a solo SoundCloud artist on June 12, 2020 with her single "Name" from the album Katey after signing to BCM in 2018.


Early life[edit]

Katelyn Gretchen Cowthorne was born on February 3, 1993 in Columbia, South Carolina to parents Annabelle (née Finlay) and Jaysun Cowthorne. But their family is South American, East Asian, Pacific Islander and African-Caribbean, according to her deoxyribonucleic acid.

Career[edit]

1998–2002: Debut with the Cattlehands[edit]

Beginning her career in September 1998, at age 5, she started dancing, singing and cheerleading with two to five teammates before calling themselves the Cattlehands, including their first performance. She debuted in the team immediately.

Cattlehands Festival[edit]

In July 1999, the Cattlehands Festival debuted as its first annual in Secaucus, New Jersey, which is minutes away from New York City. The team performed with the following mashup songs: ...Baby One More Time - Britney Spears, 1999 - Prince, Mickey - Toni Basil, et al.

The second annual took place in August 2000, during the movie premiere of Bring It On featuring Kirsten Dunst and Gabrielle Union.

The third annual took place in May 2001 in Malibu, California after the XFL season with the championship of the Los Angeles Xtreme.

The fourth annual took place in June 2002 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, which is 2 hours 30 minutes from Cowthorne's hometown.

In September 2002, the festival canceled automatically after four annuals because of Cowthorne watching porn videos. She was nine years old at the time.

2003–10: SimTunes and Imagine Cheerleader[edit]

In July 2003, after WXBT (100.1 The Beat) was launched, she joined SimTunes[3] along with her teammates, including Plucks, her favorite yellow bug. Her first project "Cattle Dreams" was created in late-September.

In March 2006, Katey Cowthorne wanted to get animated on video games, television or even comic strips. Manga adaptions from Japan may be work out, except a Nintendo DS game was coming, thanks to Japanese businessman Hiroshi Yamauchi. On February 3, 2007, on her 14th birthday, she created a second SimTune project "Cheer Lover".

Appeared on the 2009 Nintendo DS game Imagine: Cheerleader[2], Katey Cowthorne said that she got animated and so do 5 others, dressed up as cowgirls with pom poms outside the football stadium and other venues. Manga cheerleaders are like the cutest, she said.

In June 2009, Katey was diagnosed with H1N1 swine flu. She was at the children's hospital at the time.

In February 2010, at age 17, Katelyn Gretchen Cowthorne chose her stage name Katey Cattlehand Pluck, which combined to a couple of software games she attended, including her latest SimTune project "NameChanger".

On December 21, 2010, YouTube user jokester251 uploaded "Crazy Christmas"[4], along with Cattlehand Pluck's favorite bug and 3 others, quoted:

"A simtune I made as a Christmas present for my mom about a decade ago, hence the text stamps. It was probably my first completed simtune (I was in fourth grade or so), so it's mostly just random notes until about 2:43. Even though the arrangement quality is atrocious, it's currently my only simtune that fits the season."

Cattlehand Pluck knew that a SimTunes project was made for her Christmas wish.

2011–14: College years[edit]

In March 2011, at age 18, Cattlehand Pluck got accepted into University of Miami for at least 4 academic years after completing her SATs and ACTs.

In September, she started taking courses with her classmates, including music and industry. Her major should be design and culture if that's the case.

In June 2012, at age 19, she was thinking of joining social media after she graduates from college.

In March 2013, Katey played Valentina in her debut play Dulce Nada, meaning "sweet nothing" in Spanish.

In May 2014, at age 21, Katey made an appearance at the Florida Air Museum in Lakeland as a music-design-culture major.

2015–16: Social media beginnings[edit]

On June 15, 2015, after college graduation, Katey joined Twitter with her first tweet to gain new followers after she followed a ton of people, including musicians. Five days later, she joined MySpace to create a stream of mixes, unless she may be working on her music, including her original songs and music videos.

On September 30, 2015, she joined Instagram with her first post to recieve new followers, and also Tumblr two weeks later. The other ones are SoundCloud and YouTube.

However, in March 2016, Cattlehand Pluck's music including her first upload was delayed until 2020, which is the year of vision. Her debut was postponed.

2017: Cattlehands retirement/disbandment[edit]

In June 2017, Katey Cattlehand Pluck and her teammates announced that the Cattlehands were retired after nearly two decades.

2018–19: Signed to BCM and auditions[edit]

In August 2018, during the album premiere of Ariana Grande's Sweetener, Katey Cattlehand Pluck signed to her local record label called "BCM" and completely auditoned before Hurricane Florence[5]. However, in October, she told BCM:

"My solo debut has been set to schedule for June 2020, because it's going to be a visionary start."

In July 2019, after the Ridgecrest earthquakes, she met Alex Mingxia Li, filmmaker and producer from Boston, Massachusetts. They were told that Katey just signed to a local record label so that her solo debut will be moved on. Alex has a sister named Wendalyn.

2020–present: Solo career and Katey[edit]

In April 2020, apologized for the COVID-19 pandemic, Katey Cattlehand Pluck began working on her self-titled debut album called "Katey" under BCM when entering a new decade. [6]

Also, she announced that her upcoming debut single from the album would be titled "Name", which is set to premiere on June 12, according to her Tweet.[7]

On June 17, 2020, Katey announced that her album has been scheduled for March 2021, which will be the tenth anniversary of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami.[8]

Katey Cattlehand Pluck was chosen as a cheerleader member of the Cattlehands. However, her fandom name was chosen after the team name. White and pink are her fandom name colors. She was a high school sophomore when Imagine: Cheerleader was released.

In April 2006, Katey Cattlehand Pluck appeared on Tetris Worlds along with other players.

In December 2015, Cattlehand Pluck joined The Heat's fire department while listening to her favorite R&B and hip-hop hits.

Katey Cattlehand Pluck cited Nicki Minaj (one of her favorite artists) as her main influence and role model. Unlike other stage names, Katey Cattlehand Pluck may be the fresh artist who sing like a child, except ageless girls like her.

She also cited Becky G, CL and J. Cole as dream clients.


Being a SoundCloud artist[edit]

Katey Cattlehand Pluck joined SoundCloud in 2015. But after the pause, she did her first upload in June 2020 under her local record label.

Personal life[edit]

Katey Cattlehand Pluck is an only child. She is multiracial. Her mother is West African and East Asian. Her father is Black Hispanic. Her grandfather was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Katey Cattlehand Pluck has a black/tan cavalier king charles spaniel named Marcy (born March 29, 2019).
