Ken Takakura is a fictional character and one of the main protagonists from the manga series Dandadan created by Yukinobu Tatsu Ken made his first appearance in Dandadan, Chapter One published by Shōnen Jump+[1] Ken is introduced as a socially awkward high-school student until he is stood up for by Momo Ayase. After being stood up by Momo Ken gets the courage to talk to her where he finds out that she believes in ghosts but not aliens and he believes in aliens not ghosts [2] So after challenging each other to prove that each exist Ken encounters a ghost named Turbo Granny that possesses him. But eventually the ghost is removed but Ken still keeps a portion of her powers.
Appearances[edit]
Ken has appeared in most of the chapters[3] He appeared in the first chapter[4] as a socially awkward boy until he meets Momo Ayase.[4] After being cursed by Turbo Granny he becomes her vessel and cannot control when she takes over his body[5]. Momo is the only one who can keep Turbo Granny in check with her psychic powers which she awakened when she encountered aliens. Ken cannot control Turbo Granny and can only be uncursed if he gets back his genitals which she stole from him in order to curse him. So Ken and Momo resolve to exorcise Turbo Granny. After exorcising Turbo Granny Ken realizes that his testicles are gone so he goes to Momo about it and finds out that a piece of Turbo Granny is resting in Ken's soul[6]. To get rid of Turbo Granny Momo transfers her conscious to a maneki-neko statue leaving her powerless while Ken retains her powers.[7]
Personality[edit]
Ken is very awkward and has a tendency to touch his glasses when he his nervous. At the start of the series it is raveled that Ken did not have many kids as child and tried to communicate with aliens so they could be his friends. After being stood up for by Momo Ayase he takes the opportunity to become her friend as he sees. After the encounter with Turbo-Granny and the aliens Momo and Ken keep in touch and become friends. But over time both of them develop feelings for each other. Over the duration of the series Ken learns how to make more friends
Abilities[edit]
As Ken possesses Turbo Granny's power after she was exorcised from his soul he retained most of her powers but albeit only at a fraction. As such he is able run at immense speed able to ricochet around rooms but can only move at max speed if he has a steady surface to run on.[8] Ken mostly fight with his legs as they are the most powerful part of his body as he transforms into his Turbo-Granny form also known as his All-Out form[8]. Ken is very powerful in Turbo-Granny form but does not possess much fighting knowledge and heads in to the battle headfirst. As said by Turbo-Granny Ken is not moving at his fastest speed in Turbo-Granny form and can unleash more of her power[8]. Often in battle Ken propels himself at immense speeds at opponents but can only do so two time before he tires out and loses form. As Ken transforms his appearance also changes his hair turns upright and changes color to white. While vertical stripes go across his face and a dark jaw mask with multiple rows of teeth appears on his face. When transformed he also takes on a hunchback appearance with is nails and toenails becoming dark and sharp. When wanting to learn how to fight better Turbo Granny tells him that his "combat rhythm" is too slow and interprets it as music rhythm as in everyone Ken as fought so far is in 6/6 time while his is in 2/4 time. So while in battle Ken improves upon his combat rhythm.
