Antasma is a character appearing in the 2013 role-playing video game Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. He serves as one of the two main villains alongside Bowser, who later betrays him.

Concept and creation

Antasma, is a character with a bat-like appearance. Antasma appears as a bat with a gaping mouth. Early in the game, he appears as a purple cloud, then later as a bat. Near the end, he is shown in his true form, which consists of a cape, a bow tie, bone-like arms and two claws.

Appearances

Antasma first appears in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. In the story of the game, he is a bat king who feasted on nightmares. He kidnaps Princess Peach, and later steals the dream stone with Bowser. In the final area of the game, Neo Bowser Castle, Bowser betrays Antasma, and Antasma fights Mario and Dreamy Luigi in the dream world, as he wished upon the dream stone to be able to travel freely across the real and dream worlds. He is defeated, explodes and presumably dies.

Antasma appears as a cameo role in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as a collectible Spirit.
