Kenny Porpora

Kenny Porpora is an American author. His first book, The Autumn Balloon, was published in 2016 by Grand Central Publishing, an imprint of Hachette Book Group. The book was unanimously selected for the Target Book Club and became a New York Times bestseller. Porpora has written for The New York Times, Newsweek, Buzzfeed, Salon, Newsday, and the New York Daily News. He is a graduate of Columbia University and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
Porpora has worked as a ghostwriter and developmental editor for Hachette Book Group and Amazon/Topple.
Porpora was born in Pelham Parkway, in the Bronx, and grew up in Brentwood, Long Island. He later attended Hofstra University before transferring to Columbia University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in philosophy. In 2009, he graduated from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. As a journalist, Porpora's first story was part of a team of reporters covering the "Miracle on the Hudson" plane crash for The New York Times.
He is also an LGBTQ+ educator and advocate. He is the co-founder of HospitableMe, an agency specializing in inclusive hospitality.
