Kenyatalk is an online community created in August 2014. The first post was made on 27 August 2014 by the administrator[2]. It is targeted at Kenyans. Kenyatalk currently has over 22,986 registered accounts (March 2018) and is ranked as the 375th most visited site in Kenya according to Alexa.com. The site rose to popularity in January 2015 after emerging as an alternative to Kenyalist.com which at that time was the leading online forum in Kenya but had suddenly gone offline without notice. Within a few months, it had surpassed Wazua as the leading forum in Kenya. The site uses Xenforo Forum Software. In 2016 the site was ranked as the top online forum website in Kenya and the 52nd most visited website in Kenya [3]

Forum Categories[edit]

Posts on Kenyatalk are organised by subject into categories. Currently, the site has 13 categories: News & Politics, Sports, General, Technology, Business, sex and relationships, Entertainment, Religion, Spiritualism & Philosophy, Health and Fitness, FTA and IPTV, Motoring, Hekaya and TBT

. Categories are added based on increased interest in a particular topic with one of the most interesting ones being "The Hekaya category" where members post stories about real life and fiction too.

TBT where historical Kenyan pictures have been posted has also been cited by most websites and other social media users who borrow it's pictures

Users[edit]

Creating an account on the site is free, one can use an email address or social media account. With an account, a user is able to comment on posts, like posts and create posts too. Titles exist on the site and are rewarded to users based on a number of points they have. Points are awarded according to how active a user posts or gets their content liked.

Site and Content Management[edit]

The site has Moderators who help manage it[4]. They help users with issues, delete content, move content to different categories and also suspend members. Once a user makes a post, they only have 30 minutes to edit it after which only the moderators have the power to edit it
