Ankush Bhardwaj (born 11 December 1992) is an Indian singer who has appeared on and won many reality singing shows. He is a contestant on the tenth season of Indian Idol,[1] having secured his place in the top 8 of the show.[2]Ankush rose to fame with the tenth season of Indian Idol.
Early Life[edit]
Ankush was born on 11 December 1992 in Kotgarh, Himachal Pradesh to Suresh Bhardwaj and Kamlesh Bhardwaj. He hails from Shimla. [3]He has been singing and practising his music skills ever since the age of 10. Ankush draws inspiration from his father who also happens to share his passion for music.
Education[edit]
Ankush completed his schooling from the Hainault Public School, Shimla. He did his B.Com and M.B.A in Finance from the R.G.G.D College of Shimla and Amity University respectively.
Career[edit]
Prior Indian Idol[edit]
Ankush had participated in various singing reality shows prior Indian Idol. In the year 2011, he was one of the finalists in Voice of Himalayas. Next, he became the first runner up of ‘Himachal Ki Awaaz’. Post that, he started performing in music festivals in Shimla. He has also been a part of other singing competitions in Himachal Pradesh like Kishore Kumar Nights and Rafi Nights.
Two years after Voice of Himalayas, Ankush won the singing contest – Sangam Sur Sangeet Ka Season 1 (2013) organized by Cedar Productions in Himachal Pradesh. 3 years later, he became one of the top 10 contestants in Benadryl Big Golden Voice – Season 4. The judges of the show were Anu Malik’s nephews – Amaal Malik and Armaan Malik. He was appreciated by both of them.
He also assisted Amaal Malik on several of his projects, a few of them being Golmaal Again, Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety.
Rise to fame with Indian Idol Season 10[edit]
He then auditioned for Indian Idol Season 10 in June 2018 and cleared it.[4] He went on to win hearts to secure his place in the top 8 of the season. Amaal Mallik tweeted in his favour soon after.[5]
His voice and talent were appreciated by many music maestros and celebrities, including Anil Kapoor[6], Aishwarya Rai, Sonakshi Sinha, Ajay−Atul, Salman Khan, Anushka Sharma, Gurdas Maan, Varun Dhawan, Laxmikant–Pyarelal, Richa Sharma (singer), Sonu Nigam and many others besides Anu Malik, Neha Kakkar [7] and Vishal Dadlani who are the judges of the tenth season of Indian Idol.
His voice was also termed as "a hero's voice" by Salman Khan.
He idolises Sonu Nigam.
Currently, he is one amongst the top 8 of the season.
Besides that, he, along with the other top contestants of the show, also lent his voice for the campaign track of PM Narendra Modi's 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan' and for the 'Sab Badhiyaa Hai' song from Sui Dhaaga: Made in India.[8]
Personal Life[edit]
Ankush has an elder brother Lokesh, to whom he is very close. He often looks up to his father and credits him for being his inspiration. Ankush is a very career focused person [9]. Besides his participation in Indian Idol, he also has the largest fan-following as compared to the other contestants of the singing show. He terms his fans as his 'motivations' and credits them for motivating him to constantly give his best.
