Kesoram Rayon started their first rayon plant in 1959 by Kesoram Industries Ltd. under Birla Group. It manufactures quality viscose Rayon filament yarn (VFY) and cellophane paper. It has a production capacity of 4,635 metric tons of rayon yarn per year.

Kesoram Industries Ltd. started its business with Kesoram Cotton Mills Ltd. in 1919. After the partnership began, production of rayon emerge. The first rayon plant was built in 1959, situated in the bank of Ganges under the name Kesoram Rayon. The first plant just started with 24 machines then a second plant was built in 1962, which added another 24 spinning machines. Presently, Kesoram Rayon has 52 spinning machines and over 2,700 employees with an installed capacity of 6'500 M.T. per annum.[1]

Kesoram Rayon produce filament rayon yarn (VFY) and cellophane paper (Kesophane paper).

- Kesophane Paper - Kesophane paper is the brand name under the manufacture of cellophane paper. It a flexible packaging film with clear transparency and is made from natural wood, the paper is non-toxic and biodegradable.[3]
