Khalifa Abdulrahaman Okene (born December 20, 1970) is a Nigerian,[1] entrepreneur and politician. He aspired for the Kogi Central Senatorial District seat in 2019 under the All Progressives Congress (APC). He is into hospitality business in Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. He is the founder of Khalif Cares Foundation, a Non-Governmental charitable organization.[2]

Early life and education[edit]

Khalifa[3] hails from the central senatorial district of Kogi State. His father, Pa Zubairu Uhuami, a farmer who relocated to the Eastern part of the state was from Adavi Local Government Area. His mother, Hajia Bilikisu Zubairu is also an Ebira from Okene Local Government Area, Kogi State. He spent most of his growing up in Idah Local Government Area where the family relocated for greener pastures. He studied at the University of Abuja and graduated in 2014 with a Bachelors of Science in Political Science. With a master's degree in-view, he holds a Doctor of Philosophy in International Relations and Diplomacy awarded by Iheris University Lomé, Togo.[4]

Career[edit]

Khalifa is an entrepreneur and business contractor traversing hospitality business, agriculture, warehousing and construction. He executed projects for the Nigeria Airport Authority (now Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria), National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA), and the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), specifically done for the Kaduna Refinery, Port-Harcourt, and the downstream business unit, Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC). He is the chief executive officer of El-Caaz Investments Limited, and El-Caaz Farms and Resorts.

Political career[edit]

He went into political limelight in the runoff to the 2019 general elections in Nigeria. He was one of the aspirants under the All Progressives Congress for the Kogi Central Senatorial District.[5] He would later step-down of the race to avert imminent threats to peaceful coexistence. He was pitched as a politician with structures across the states, and speculated to likely succeed Yahaya Bello as the Governor of Kogi State.[6]

Personal life[edit]

Khalifa hails from Ege, in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State. He is from Ebiraland. He is a father of six children, and married to Hajia Amina Atimpo Abdulrahaman from Okene.
