Khalifo Gul Muhammad Halani (خليفو گل محمد ھالاڻي),[1] was a Sindhi language poet. He was born in Hala, Hyderabad in the home of Hafiz Wali Mahammad in 1784. He was the first Sindhi poet who worked on Sindhi language Gazal. His father, Hafiz Wali Mahammad, educated him in Sindhi and Persian. In childhood he became interested in Sufism and began to compose Gazal. He came under the influence of Saint Pir Ghor Ali Shah Asgar. He was the first Sindhi poet to give new shape to Sindhi Gazal. He prepared a Sindhi language alphabet in his book Dewan Gul. In his final years he showed great interest in going to Hajj Mandia where he performed Hajj. He died there.[2][3]
