Khamsin is an American indie rock band from Nashville, Tennessee formed in 2012. The band's sound shifts between releases but generally incorporates elements of indie, emo, post-hardcore, and post-rock.

History[edit]

The band was originally conceived as the solo project of vocalist Jacob Curry. Khamsin released their first EP There Is A Place in 2012. In May 2013, the band teamed up with producer Andrew Jonathan Gomez to record their follow-up EP.[4] After a successful Kickstarter campaign, I've Only Been A Thief was released by More Than Me Records on January 29, 2014.[5]

"Old Fang" was released as a single on October 4, 2016.[6] Let Me See Clearly followed on October 16, 2016.[7]

In February 2018, "Ferment" was released as a single.[8] An EP, A Brief Look Down, was released in March 2018.[9] To support the release, Khamsin toured with Idle Threat, Early Humans, Old News, Together In Dust, and Mess. The band appeared at Threat Fest in 2019, a Smyrna, TN-based hardcore festival.[10]

Khamsin began releasing singles in early 2022 leading up to the release of their first full-length LP What's Left of Life? on May 13, 2022. Zac Djamoos at The Alternative compared the record to mewithoutYou's Catch for Us the Foxes, Colour Revolt, and Pianos Become the Teeth.[11] In support of the record, the band embarked on an East Coast tour in May 2022 and a Midwest Tour in July with A Modest Proposal, along with dates supporting Delta Sleep (band), Pianos Become the Teeth, and Homesafe.[12] Following the release of What's Left of Life?, Tuned Up included Khamsin in their annual "Nashville Artists to Watch" list, comparing the band to From Indian Lakes and the album to Title Fight's Hyperview and Turnover (band)'s Peripheral Vision, as well as their "Top 10 New Artist Finds of 2022".[13][14]

In early 2023, it was announced that Khamsin was part of the lineup for the Tennessee date of Is For Lovers Festival, organized by Hawthorne Heights.[15][16]
