Fictional character biography[edit]

Childhood and training[edit]

Ki-Adi-Mundi was born on the planet Cerea. Like all Cereans, Mundi has a large head with a complex, binary brain and a second heart to support the brain.

Ki-Adi-Mundi trained under two Jedi, the mysterious Dark Woman, and Yoda. Ki-Adi-Mundi joined the Jedi High Council and was granted the rank Jedi Master prior to the Invasion of Naboo and the events of Episode I. Unlike most Jedi, Mundi was allowed to marry and have children due to his species having exceptionally low birth rates.

The Phantom Menace[edit]

Ki-Adi-Mundi made his first onscreen appearance in Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace as a member of the Jedi High Council. He sat to Grand Master Yoda's right and to Jedi Master Saesee Tiin's left. Mundi is first seen when Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi came before the Council to tell them about Jinn's encounter with a mysterious attacker, (Darth Maul) who Jinn believed was a Sith. Mundi is quick to voice his skepticism, stating that it couldn't have been a Sith because the Sith had been extinct for a millennium.

Attack of the Clones[edit]

Ki-Adi-Mundi is first seen during Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones discussing what to do about the increasing power of the former Jedi Count Dooku and the separatists with Chancellor Palpatine and several other Jedi including Yoda and Mace Windu. His first line is when Senator Padmé Amidala and other members of the Galactic Senate come in the room and Padmé says she believes Count Dooku is behind a recent attempt on her life. Mundi replies stating that “he is a political idealist, not a murder.”

Ki-Adi-Mundi sits on the Jedi High Council in Attack of the Clones, once again to Yoda's right and Saesee Tiin's left.

Ki-Adi-Mundi is seen fighting in the Geonosian execution arena alongside more than 200 Jedi. Mundi is among the few survivors. After the clone troopers arrived with Yoda to rescue the surviving Jedi, Mundi rode into the First Battle of Geonosis in a Republic Gunship with Yoda, Mace Windu, and Kit Fisto

In a partially completed scene that was later scrapped, Ki-Adi-Mundi is seen leading an attack inside a droid control ship with fellow council member Plo Koon and several other Jedi. The attack occurred during the battle in the Geonosian arena, the mission was to get into the control room and shut down the droids. Mundi and Koon are ultimately successful in shutting down the droids, which was the original reason why the droids stopped, instead of Dooku stopping them. However, when the droids turned back on, the Jedi realized they were independently controlled, instead of the final cut where Dooku orders the droids to kill the Jedi. When the droids reactivated, they caught the remaining Jedi in the control ship off guard and only Ki-Adi-Mundi and Plo Koon survived. This is why when the droids stop in the final cut Mundi and Koon are together, and are among the last Jedi to join the circle of survivors.

Revenge of the Sith[edit]

Ki-Adi-Mundi is first seen during Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith. Ki-Adi-Mundi sits on the Jedi High Council in Revenge of the Sith, this time to Yoda's right again but to Obi-Wan Kenobi's left.

Other Appearances[edit]

In addition to appearing in all three movies in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, Ki-Adi-Mundi has been in other media such as TV shows, books, and video games.
