KiCad StepUp is a free software script for electronic design automation (EDA); this new approach allows the user to export kicad board and modules in STEP AP214 (with colors). The kicad StepUp script maintains the usual way to work with kicad, but improves the process to work in a collaborative way with mechanical designers, bringing near ECAD and MCAD environments.
Features
The kicad StepUp script offers an accurate 3D visualization of components on board assemblies in kicad 3dviewer, and transfers with the same accuracy and aspect the board and models in STEP AP214 format. User can work as usual in kicad, with VRML models derived from STEP mechanical 3D parts, and can transfer the artwork of the pcb board and a complete board assemblies with electronic modules in a collaborative way with mechanical designers, bringing ECAD and MCAD environments close to each other. Repo of 3D STEP models
STEP AP214 and VRML FreeCAD scripted repository ready to kicad StepUp [3] Kicad StepUp offers also a repository of many electronic components STEP AP214 models, with a nice script to build parametric models for: SOIC, SSOP, TSSOP, SOT, QFP' ICs, DIP ICs, Chip Resistors, Chip Capacitors, Tantalum and Aluminum SMD capacitors, Pin Headers; just compiling a parametric text file with dimensions from component data sheet the model STEP AP214 will be created 3D-script-generator and 3D models [4] 'more is coming ...'
