Origins[edit]

Project X5[edit]

Music producers Kaysen Markoff, Jayden Bayless, and Nate Williams more publicly known online as (DJX Kbrokaysen, The Legendary JayB, and DJ Nasty02Nate), produced the beat to Kill Me on March 7, 2020. This creation was called "Project X5" at the time. Project X5 was a code title that referred to a series that was most popular under DJX Kbrokaysen's previous generation. Based on past leaks from DJX Kbrokaysen's YouTube archive files, Project X5 was a code name for Bitch I'ma Viper X5. The song was meant to have artists DJX Kbrokaysen, The Legendary JayB, and DJ Nasty02Nate as a new collaboration for the Bitch I'ma Viper album that was made in 2017 but left to rot in 2020. The track lyrics was meant to have the same base of dissing DJX's old Savage Squad but would include more people to talk about including Markoff's old producer, Ethan Page. However during the lyrical writing phase of the song led into a different direction with Bayless's lyrical choice.

Markoff's lyrics were in a more direct form made for Bitch I'ma Viper but liked the central idea of overall killing. JayB announced that he made the lyrics in his head based off of the Saugus High School shooting and taking perspectives into different hands. DJX and DJ Nate sided with JayB and wrote the lyrics that are presented today.

The Major Collaboration[edit]

On the same night of March 7, 2020 that the three artists finished recording, American rapper Lil HalfMoon was asked to give a verse on the track. With his lyrics written by DJX Kbrokaysen, Lil HalfMoon was a featuring part on the iconic song. Two days after HalfMoon's recording session, rappers RedRiots and LUX4 were also asked to write for the track. The two artists who attended Saugus High School themselves had a more brutal and realistic verse for the song. RedRiots part more focused on tortured murder and Shane Sum's part more focused on killing his ex. With the finishing of the final two artists recording, Kill Me (Single) was official complete on March 12, 2020.

Addressing Generation Z[edit]

With the time passing from the Saugus shooting, Kill Me was released to DJX Kbrokaysen's YouTube for the public since at the time Saugus Studios Entertainment was not on music platforms yet. With this release, students from Saugus High were filled with rage.

A Menace to Saugus[edit]

For everyone that followed DJX Kbrokaysen on YouTube, Kill Me was seen as an "attack" to the Saugus community. Students that knew DJX were very upset with the violent lyrics and hype that referenced the shooting during its healing process. A student from the school commented on the post with a very direct letter.
