On July 20, 2017, Xanda, the son of Cecil the lion who was previously killed two years ago, was killed by a trophy hunter. He was six years old and a father of six young cubs.[1]
The fate of the 20,000 freely roaming lions considered endangered as businesses bring hunters to just outside the preserve. [2]
