Kimani Moore (born Olukorede Ogunyomade), is a British based Nigerian talent manager, and A&R executive. She is the founder, and CEO of Kimani Moore Entertainment, a talent management agency, and music company, she founded in 2018 following her exit from Universal Music Group Nigeria. Kimani Moore Entertainment operates in three countries,[1] including United Kingdom, America, and Nigeria. She currently serve as the manager to Odunsi (The Engine), Tay Iwar, Mowalola Ogunlesi, and Deto Black. In 2017, during her time at Universal Music Group Nigeria, Moore was head of A&R, and was featured in YNaija, 2018 New Establishment List.
In 2020, she became a member of the MOBO Awards voting academy board.[2]
Early life[edit]
Olukorede Ogunyomade's was born in Ikeja GRA, a neighborhood in Lagos, before she relocated to London, when she was 7 years.
Career[edit]
In 2017, Moore lead A&R at Universal Music Group Nigeria,[3] a West Africa division of Universal Music Group. During her time as head of A&R, Odunsi (The Engine), and Tay Iwar, was discovered, and signed to Universal Music Group Nigeria under her watch. In 2018, she founded Kimani Moore Entertainment,[1] in partnership with Platoon, an Africa distribution network acquired by Apple Music, for distribution in Ghana and Nigeria, and Peermusic for publishing. According to Moore, "both partnership will also provide a crucial platform for discovering the next generation of African musicians," she tells Tim Nudd in an interview with Muse by Clio.[1]
She has worked for Larry Gaaga,[1] Santi, GMK, and also served as a music supervisor for the Nigerian drama film, Lara and the Beat, directed, and produced by Tosin Cooker. On 8 March 2021, Kimani Moore was cited as one of the 7 Women Working Behind The Scenes, Contributing To The Growth Of Nigerian Music by Tush Magazine in 2021.
Public speaking[edit]
On 12 May 2018, Moore spoke at TEDxBellsTech conference titled Ignite:Awaken inspire execute, with co-speakers Aramide, Fola David, Onyeka Akumah, among others, hosted by TED conference at Bells University in Ota, Ogun. On 10 May 2020, she speaks about her experiences at Femme Africa, alongside speakers, DJ Cuppy, and Elizabeth Sobowale.
Honors and recognition[edit]
On 4 November 2020, Moore was nominated by Temi Adeniji on Alternative Power 100 Music List by Shesaid.so, and supported by Native Instruments.[4]
