KINTO Europe GmbH (from Japanese Kinto'un 金斗雲 "flying nimbus"), formerly Toyota Fleet Mobility, is a mobility services company focusing on full-service leasing and flexible rental.

Headquartered in Cologne, Germany, it was established in January 2019 as a joint venture between Toyota Motor Europe (TME) and Toyota Financial Services Corporation (TFSC), both of which are wholly owned by Toyota Motor Corporation.

History

The company was founded as Toyota Fleet Mobility in January 2019 as a joint venture between Toyota Motor Europe (TME) and Toyota Financial Services Corporation (TFSC), as part of Toyota's strategy to evolve from a car manufacturer into a mobility company.[1]

In April 2021, the company was renamed to Kinto Europe GmbH to align with Toyota’s global Kinto brand of mobility services.[2]

Since its establishment, Kinto Europe has expanded operations across several European markets, including Spain, Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

Etymology

The brand name KINTO is derived from the Japanese word Kinto'un 金斗雲 which means "flying nimbus", which is a cloud that provides on-demand transportation for a famous animated character in Japan.
