Kirsty Finlayson

Kirsty Finlayson (born 24 May 1990)[1] is a politician for the Conservative Party in the UK. She is the Parliamentary candidate for the Oldham West & Royton constituency for the 2019 UK general election.[1][2]

Candidacy[edit]

Finlayson contested the East Ham seat in the 2017 General election and the St. Katharine and Wapping ward in a local election in 2018, and was on the list of candidates in the EU election in 2019 for Greater London.[3][1]

Political beliefs[edit]

Finlayson has advocated for environmental issues within the Conservative Party, including suggesting a list of policies for the Government to adopt.[4][5]

She voted to leave the European Union in the 2016 referendum of EU membership[6] and has since argued that the result must be implemented.[7]

She is a director of the 50:50 Parliament movement for equal representation of men and women in the Houses of Parliament.[3][8]

Personal life[edit]

Finlayson works as a solicitor.[3][7][8] She volunteers for the Samaritans.[3][8]

In September 2018, she was quoted and photographed for an article on the impact of dating apps on the mental health of young people.[9]
