Klaipeda Choirs’ Association “Aukuras” was founded in 1988. It is an independent creative social organization, which unites choir leaders, music educators, choristers and other creative people of Klaipeda and Western Lithuania, developing and promoting choral art and continuing the traditions of Western Lithuania and all Lithuanian Song celebrations and national choral culture. “Aukuras” – the organizer of song celebrations, international competitions, festivals, concerts, also music sheets and books publisher in Western Lithuania.
Klaipeda Choirs’ Association “Aukuras” organizes the International Stasys Šimkus choir competition, which takes place over 40 years.
Klaipeda Choirs' Association "Aukuras" is the winner in the nomination "For Creativity Education, Preservation and Dissemination of Cultural Traditions" in the National Community Competition "We Believe in Freedom" 2010.[1][2][3]
