Kamaal Burrowes (born January 25, 1989) better known by his stage name Klassik Frescobar is an American Dancehall and Soca Artist. He fuses ‘soca-hall’ (a fusion of dancehall and soca) in his music.[1][2]
Early life[edit]
Klassik Frescobar was born in New York but raised in Kingston, Jamaica[3] He was raised by his maternal grandparents in the Constant Spring Gardens area of Kingston.[4] His paternal grandfather is the late Sydney Ignatius "Foggy" Burrowes, a coach and sports administrator at Kingston College.[5] Klassik Frescobar attended both primary and secondary school education in Jamaica. He was exposed to music at an early age as he used to listen to music from his mother’s cassette player.[6] He grew up listening to dancehall artists such as Bounty Killer, Sean Paul and Beenie Man who he attributes as his influences to fuse Soca with dancehall. Klassik Frescobar migrated back to New York at the age of 13.[7][8]

After migrating to the Bronx in New York, At age 17, Klassik Frescobar started his music career as a battle-rapper.[9] His original stage-name was "Sikk", but when he ventured into songwriting, he changed it to "Klassik". Klassik ‘Frescobar’ is a pseudonym made out of two words: ‘fresco’, which is Spanish for ‘fresh’, and ‘bar’, which is a unit of measurement in music.[1] In 2010 he released his mixtape "Sleep When I Die",[10] which he collaborated with Ricky Blaze, Red Cafe, Cory Gunz, XV, and Currensy.[11]
Soca career[edit]
Klassik Frescobar relocated to Miami in 2014 and began working with American rapper Red Cafe.[12] Klassik Frescobar's record “Boom” became his crossover record into the soca genre.[13] Currently his record “Looking Good” has over one million views across twitter and tiktok due to the #LookingGoodChallenge.[14][15] Klassik Frescobar has so far recorded 15 singles, 8 which are solo projects. His other notable hit record is “Benz Truck”.[6][1]
